Need value from the Competitor fields on Close Opportunity Form

Hello,

I have a requirement of displaying the value of Competitor on the Opportunity form when the Opportunity is closed as Lost and also link the Opportunity to the Specific Competitor.

I have applied the following workaround (Time consuming):

Created a new field on Opportunity form and have asked users to fill it in manually. They fill it again on the Close Opportunity Form when they close the Opportunity as Lost.

They go in the Competitor entity, find the Competitor and link the Opportunity manually.

Please suggest some other alternative for this.

Thank you.

    Hi Huzefa,

I haven't tried this but believes that the better approach would be to create a plugin on create of "Opportunity Close" entity which retrieves the Competitor from the "Opportunity Close" entity and populate it on the competitor field on the Opportunity entity. This way the end users only have to select the competitor on clsing the opportunity.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Ravi,

There is no "Opportunity Close" when a new Plugin is created.

I tried adding Related entity=Competitor, Competitor value, but it does not work.

    Thank you.

    Hi Huzefa,

What do you mean by There is no "Opportunity Close" when a new Plugin is created. Are you not able to find the entity in PLT?

Sorry I misunderstood as a Workflow.

I am not sure about plugins as to how to create them.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanx.

If you haven't created any plugin then it would be a little complex as it requires visual studio and a basic knowledge of writing C# code. If you have written plugin before then I can help you with the code to achieve this requirement.  You can refer the below links on starting the plugins development-

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Ravi,

I have not written any plugin before. Will have a chat with the users as to how important is this requirement.

    Thank you.
