Hi

Does customer credit checking happen when using the Project module?  Can anyone direct me to any documentation on this?

Thanks

    Hi CEL1967,

in the Project Parameters form - invoice tab, there is a Parameter "credit Rating". How is this one Setup in your Environment? If you set it to error the process should be stopped.

    Hope this helps,

    Ludwig

    Hi

Yes - I have found this parameter.  I believe this only flags up that there is a problem at the time of Invoice Proposal.  I would prefer I was warned earlier in the process - any ideas?

    Thanks

    Hi CEL1967,

What do you mean exactly by earlier?

At the time you setup the project and do the planning or at the time you record transactions?

In my opinion an earlier warning can only be achieved by making use of the project budget functionalities.

Everything else won't work in my opinion. Imagine that the credit limit check would hit at the time you enter a transaction e.g. hours on a project based on the setup sales prices. If you do a correction of that price later on, give the customer a discount, etc. things would get super complex as AX would have to run the credit Limit check permanently. Therefore I believe the check at the time the invoice proposal is created is right and that the only chance to get a similar check earlier is using the project budget functionality.

What are your thoughts about this? Would it work for your Scenario/ Business process?

    Hi

You have probably guessed that the project module is not my strength.  When you say use the "project budget functionality" - how would this help?

    Thanks

    Hello CEL1967,

The project budget functionality works independent from the budgeting module but can be transferred to this module if you want.

What the project budget function can do is checking - at the time you record a project transaction - whether or not sufficient budget funds are available or not. It is not the same as the credit limit function but goes into this direction.

If you want to find out more, please have a look at the following site: blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../project-budgeting

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
