Reporting on BPF Stage timers

I am looking to create opportunity views/charts based on the time spent in current stage of a BPF.  I am trying to add a column to an advanced find using the data from where it says "Active for ## days, ## hours" on the BPF bar.  I feel rather dumb, but I can not work out where this field is either on the opportunity, or on the available related entities using the Add Columns function.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Many thanks,

Rob

    Hi Rob,

have a look at the BPF entities (they are named after the process name). There are those durations there

Many thanks for your reply.  I think that would solve the question, except for a complication I did not mention:

We have two BPFs that could apply to opportunities:  the first is for manually created opportunities and the second is a continuation from lead qualification.  They are identical except that the first stage (Qualification) of the BPF applies to different entities.  I know this sounds overly complex, but I inherited it!

Therefore, I was looking for a way of accessing this data from the opportunity entity.  However, I cannot access the related BPF entity to select columns in advanced find.

Ah.. right. That's because it's 1:N between opportunity and every process entity, so you can't select that field from the process entity into the opportunity view

Well, you might try creating "active stage duration" field on the opportunity  (per process?), and, then, registering a workflow on each of the BPF entities to update that field on the "parent" opportunity whenever there is a change in the process record

Thanks Alex - I think this might be the only way.  Although I would have to batch update every night since the aim of such reporting is to highlight opportunities that are not being worked.

Actually, that suggestion with the workflow was not extremely useful I guess:))

For each process, you might create a calculated field on the opportunity (active stage duration). Then create "stage start" field (date time). So the calculated field would use a formula (for example, DIFFINDAYS between NOW() and that data time field)

Then, a workflow on the BPF entity would update that date time field whenever a new stage is selected

Should probably allow you to keep everything in Dynamics (rather than to use those batch updates etc)
