Word Template XML source missing

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 1,340

I recently installed the add-in for MS word but none of my templates have an XML source.  I printed one of my reports to XML and added it as a source without errors, but when I try to access the fields, no sources are available.

Any Help.......Please.

    Can you provide additional details:

Is this a standard report template?

Is this a report template created by the template generator?

Yes, it is a standard template report.  I also created a new template based on a modified report.  When I open the report in word to modify, I cannot get the report to display any tables.  It seems it is not recognizing the XML source.

    Hi Jason,

I am certain I had a similar problem (and many others) with word templates...  It's been a while so I do not remember the exact solution, perhaps you can take a look at the XML file to make sure it is the correct source for your template.  In the example below, the ProductId will indicate if you are using the Dynamics GP original source, and of course the XMLNAME must match the template as well.

Here are two articles that might help you :

How are you generating the XML file? I had the same issue a while ago, and it turned out I was generating them from the wrong place. The 2nd article Phillipe posted shows how to do this.
