Field added to Quick find view, but still not searchable in Global search

Hi, 

I have added a custom field (whole number) to the quick find view, both as a column and in 'add find columns' but it's still not searchable in global search. 

Has anyone else come across this? I can't find anything online. All the questions online were resolved by adding to 'add find columns' but I've already done that.

The field is searchable. The entity is added to categorized search in system settings too.

Can anyone help please!
