Management Reporter Exception Report Showing Incorrect Duplicated GL Codes

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello,

We are in the process of converting from FRX to Management Reporter.  When we tell Management Reporter to generate an exception reports, it lists every GL accounts and says 'Duplicated 2 times'.  A few accounts says 'Duplicated 3 times'.  The Row Code column only lists one row.

We know these GL accounts are not duplicated.  FRX does not report any duplicate accounts.  And the actual report output of the two systems match.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?  We have found the exception report in FRX to be very useful, and it appears the Management Reporter version is not working correctly.

This problem persisted for us through Management Reporter 2012 RU5.  It was resolved on our system by CU6.

    Hi,

If you are on Management Reporter 2012 or newer you should not be getting duplicate exception reports from a YTD column. That bug (483595) was reported as fixed in MR2012.

    Thanks

    Ryan

Thanks - since I am using YTD columns & trees (which Lyn Barr disovered that Microsoft has already identified as potential sources of dups), I guess I'll just wait until Microsoft issues a fix.

    Hi,

I had worked with Marc and we were unable to reproduce the issue here. There may be something specific in Dynamics or something environmental specific of why you are seeing this. You may want to open a support ticket and they can help dig into why this is ocurring. With the information I had before I wasn't able to narrow down why it was occuring.

Re: Management Reporter Exception Report Showing Incorrect Duplicated GL Codes

We just went from FRx to MR2012, and are seeing erroneous (from what I can tell) duplicate 2 times row code (duplicates) on the error report. What is weird is that is it not all my accounts - just some (well, most)  balance sheet accounts - there are no duplicate errors on any Profit & Loss accounts.

    Any fix yet?

    Ryan,

I'd be happy to export you a copy of ControlRowCriteria (and any other related tables).  Just PM the best way to get it to you.

  • Re: Management Reporter Exception Report Showing Incorrect Duplicated GL Codes

    Marc,

Can you provide a list of what you have in the ControlRowCriteria table, or send me a message through the site? We had a few bugs that were fixed in MR2012 around duplicate exception reports. I took a quick look at this and couldn't reproduce this issue.

items with a CriteriaType of 1 are items migrated from FRx into Management Reporter. CriteriaType 13 are entries in the link to FD, but not dimension value sets.

Re: Management Reporter Exception Report Showing Incorrect Duplicated GL Codes

I'm seeing the exact same symptoms in Management Reporter 2012 that Bab Marinko described in the original post.  We originally converted from FRx to MR 2.0 to MR 2012.

I took a look at the ControlRowCriteria table and the accounts for converted rows are duplicated.  There is a set with DimensionCode = '' and CrtieriaType = 1.  Then there is a set with DimensionCode = 'Account' and CriteriaType = 13.

If I add a new account to one of the rows, only a single record is added with CriteriaType = 13 and DimensionCode = 'Account'.

Re: Management Reporter Exception Report Showing Incorrect Duplicated GL Codes

    Thanks, Ryan!

I did start a support case with Microsoft, and here is their official reply:

    1) The exception report will not pick up missing accounts. This is a feature request we are hoping to add into MR2010 (this summer).

    2) The exception report looks to have several bugs listing out duplicated accounts that are not truly duplicated (when using a YTD-type column or a Tree).

At this time, there are no workarounds, so finding missing accounts will be a manual process for now.

As for finding duplicated accounts, you can try temporarily switching the columns to CURR, solely for the purpose of identifying any truly duplicated accounts.

  • Re: Management Reporter Exception Report Showing Incorrect Duplicated GL Codes

Missing accounts are not currently available in Management Reporter, and will be added in the next feature release.

I'm told there may be some issues with duplicate accounts being found. You may want to check with the support team to see if it is a design issue, or something not functioning correctly.

    Thanks

    Ryan
