We have setup a SharePoint document library per the instructions at mbs.microsoft.com/.../MR2012SharePoint%2020101.docx.
The reports and report groups publish links to the library successfully. We are on the CU7 release, so these links default to http: links for the web client. We have been unable to reproduce the same print experience on the web client (among other things), so we are looking for a means to publish links that open in the legacy desktop client.
There are a lot of mechanisms in SharePoint that validate URL links, and the "mr://./report/{guid}" format is being rejected as invalid. We know we can publish the web-based links and users can open the report by selecting "Download | Management Reporter" Since this represents an extra step, however, we would like to be able to publish links that open the desktop client and navigate directly to the desired report.
We could also have people navigate the Report Library from the desktop client, but fixed folder navigation limits how our team can present the publications. Utlimately, we want our users to have the rich navigation, filter, and sort capabilities of SharePoint of the web client; while having the more optimal print and XPS export experience of the desktop client.
Suggestions on how we can setup direct links to the specific reports in the Management Reporter desktop client Report Library would be greatly appreciated.
