Data refresh of marketing analytic reporting with Power BI is too long

Hello,

First, wish you all the best for 2021.

We are currently working with the analytic Power BI reporting using Marketing application data:

 https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/marketing/custom-analytics

We found that the data refresh took too long time, about 6~8 hours if we need interactions data of 365 days back.

Has anyone encountered the same problem? Did you successfully optimize the refresh time?

Thank you in advance,

    Hi Niels vh,

    Thank you for your answer!

For now we can only download the reporting then refresh the data using desktop version.

I would be really careful with using powerbi and the blob for Dynamics Marketing reporting. It has bitten us in the fingers. After a while (not very long) the system will have too many interaction records in the blob storage to do a refresh at all. After we've mentioned this to Microsoft it was added to their limitations... (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/marketing/marketing-analytics/analytics-gallery-start --> 50k blobs and 5gb storage)

There is currently no plan on fixing this, because it is a preview feature. The suggestion was made to transfer everything to a datawarehouse so i guess that would be your solution. It is very unfortunate that dynamics 365 itself can't make use of the blob storage for simple d365 dashboarding. The only way to view analytics is by using the 'insights' tab on every record. Aggreragte dashboarding is not possible unless you use PowerBI, but that has severy limitations whichs means that you need to use a datawarehouse and powerbi to get simple aggregrate analytics. This was a severe issue for us.
