Hello,
I'm trying to import a txt file with ER. When I build the format I have to choose what kind of line break I want (LF, CRLF or CR):
My problem is that the files I want to import could be either type of line break.
What approach should I take? It doesn't seem this feature is extensible by code.
Hi Arcadi,
Can you tell the scenario where you will get files with different codepages? I would recommend to see if you can solve it from the source by choosing one as a requirement.
Thank you for your answer André,
It's a file that's used to send data between companies. The party who "standardizes" it does not have requirements about page breaks or encoding nor I can enforce any party to use a certain codepage.
Because there are no rules I may have problems with encoding in the future, but at the moment that has not ben an issue because it's used only for regional communications. But I do have files with different type of page break, to the best of my knowledge this depends on the character that's used, Windows uses CRLF while Unix/Linux uses LF.
Probably the files will have to be standardized before importing them to ER, but this will be a hassle because there could be different file sources.
You can also try to create multiple ER configurations. But then you will need to know which file has what codepage used.
