Activities - owner list in single field in views / best practices

Hi guys. I'm trying to explain to our users that the owner in the activities is a bit of a red herring. We don't want to change the owner cascade relationships, and really want the users to understand the owner is not really relevant most of the time - they are mistaking it for the person attending an appointment, sender of emails, etc, when this is not necessarily true.

The users however do not want separate grids for emails, tasks and activities, where they could see the relevant information (to/from for emails, etc).

How do you guys handle this in the views? is there any way of pulling the related party information through into a single view column? s there a best practice that anyone follows?

Thanks

James
