How to alter Sales Price Trade Agreement records

Hi,

In my D365 FO system I have configured Sales Prices via Trade Agreements (TA) rather than on the items themselves. I'd now like to update a subset (500+) of those prices and am seeking guidance on how best to achieve this task. As far as I currently know I could use one of the following methods:
  1. Manually update the TA for each of the 500+ items.
  2. Use the 'Sales and marketing > Prices and discounts > Trade agreement journals' option to apply an 'Adjustment'.
  3. Prepare the new TA records in Excel and import the data via the Data Management workspace.
Each method however has its drawbacks. In method 1 there is a risk of error through manual entry and is very resource intensive on the user. Method 2 seems to limit the 'Select' option to predefined values and unfortunately I'd like to use a custom field to help me identify the items to update. Also, I can't find any information regarding this method, specifically how it affects the existing TAs. Does it simply update them or does it create a newer TA based on dates to replace them? Finally, method 3 also seems to have the same date issue as method 2 - I can create new TA records but how are these selected in preference to the existing ones?

If anyone has experience in this task and are willing to share tips then I'd welcome your input.

Thanks,

Mike

How to alter Sales Price Trade Agreement records
I can create a new Sales Price journal and use the Select button to bring all the active prices in but I can't directly apply filters to the data as the available columns (even with being able to add others) do not cover my criteria. I'm interested in your suggestion of and Advanced Filter, but I need to investigate this a bit more as if that could help me whittle down the list of products to just the 500+ I need to change then that sounds like a good tool.

What you can do is use the Select button to bring all your active prices in to the Journal. Then, using filters on the lines (or Advanced filter/sort), set a filter so that you only see lines which you are not interested in. Using Advanced filter/sort and joins, you might be able to use your EcoResProductDetailsExtended table.

When you have only lines that you don't want, select them all and press Alt + F9 to delete them all from the journal. Then remove the filter, and you are left with the lines that need price updates.

How to alter Sales Price Trade Agreement records
    Hi GuyUK,

The field I'd like to be able to use to filter the items is in EcoResProductDetailsExtended and has been added as part of a customisation. If I view the Product information management > Products > Released products form (not a specific item) then I am not able to add this field to the visible columns as I guess it hasn't been exposed via the entity. This doesn't bode well for me. At the moment the only way I can think of is to, as you suggest, manually add each of the 500+ items into a journal to be able to set end and start dates and a new price.

Where does the custom field that you would like to use to identify the 500 items live?

How to alter Sales Price Trade Agreement records
    Hi GuyUK,

What you're describing is (I think) roughly what I was thinking too. Using that process it should be possible to retain the historical prices for the items and yet have a 'cut-over' date from which the new prices apply. I've had a go at this but am seeking a simpler/better way to select the items into the new journal as I have 500+ of them. Any tips on that? I've read that there is a "Select" option which can help but none the fields it allows to search on allow me to make the selection as I haven't populated them with distinct values.

    Thanks,

This is what I tend to do.

Create a new Trade agreement journal. Open the Lines and use the Select button to bring the prices that you want to change in to the Trade agreement journal.

Use the Open in Microsoft Office > Open in Excel function to edit the Trade agreement lines in Excel.

On each line, set the To date to yesterday.

Copy / Paste all of the lines, so that every line is now duplicated in the spreadsheet. On these new lines, set the From date to today, and the To date to blank. Set the new price on each line.

Hit Publish to push these changes back in to the Trade agreement journal in F&O.

With this method, you are retaining the price history of each item. It is possible to do this without using Excel, but honestly doing it in Excel seems easier.

How to alter Sales Price Trade Agreement records
    Hi Hana Xue,

I think I can see what you're getting at with your comment about method two. That would allow the original price to be retained but a sum of prices to be used when customers order. It also allows visibility of how that new customer price has been built up over time as new adjustments are added.
Unfortunately this is not what I was seeking advice upon. I'd like to update TAs for about 500 items and am struggling to identify the best way to do this. I think I need to create a new journal for the items with their new prices and post it, but because there are so many items I'd like guidance on how best to prepare that journal for posting.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi,
For method one, manual adjustment is suitable for cases where the number is small. It is error-prone and troublesome when there are too many entries, which is why you should look for other methods.
For method two, there is a field that allows price adjustment in the trade agreement journal. The document gives an example of how to adjust the price. This process can affect the existing TA, but it is usually adjusted on the basis of the existing TA. Instead of creating new TAs to replace them.
