Backup Server for Disaster Recovery

Posted on by 20

We would like to build a backup server for our Great Plains GP installation.  The server would be a warm server (different server name) at our recovery site.  In the event the production server fails or becomes inaccessible databases would be restored on the backup server and the backup server would become the production server.

Could anyone suggest the best approach to doing this?  We have found some information under Microsoft support regarding transferring an existing server to a new server but are not sure this is the right approach.

Thanks,

Jason

    Hello Jason

What I imply from the few lines above that you want a recovery solution, so that your operation doesn't stop in case a failure occurs in your operation server. Therefore, I would recommend to follow the standards in order to achieve things properly

Lets know if anybody has got a better suggestion.

    Good Luck

Thanks for responding.  This is more complex than what we require.  We are using a simple backup model (daily) and want to restore the databases on a backup server in a recovery scenario.
