Window Setup

Currently, if i have a window open in GP and i open new window , both windows will not be view-able at the same time without manipulation. The window that was already open will be covered up by the main GP window, and the new window will be showing on top of the main GP window. for example if i am entering a voucher in the transaction entry window and i need to research an old voucher through the payables inquiry window, once i click on the payables inquiry window my transaction entry window automatically gets covered up by the main gp window. is there something in the setup that can alleviate this?

    RE: Window Setup

    Hello again, LeilaniGrant

I have witnessed this problem long time ago, when I had users working on multiple sister companies at the same time. I hoped that the "Support Debugging Tool" would have delivered such an option, since there is a similar option which "Prevent windows from opening outside the visible desktop area".

With that option checked, user simply minimized the Dynamics GP home window, and kept the multiple screens on the so that when one is active, the other is still showing on the screen just on the left/right side.

I have looked if there were any Dex.ini switch which would keep the Dynamics GP screens "Always on Top", but I found none.

I just make my "windows" smaller so that they both fit on the screen and don't touch.  It works fine for me that way.  Have you tried that?  :-)

This is by design. When you open a window in GP it calls back to the Dex.ini to look the coordinates of your screen which you saved last time you closed a window, just like IE does. So if you move a window to a certain spot on your screen and close it, the next time you open a new window GP should open that window in that same spot (unless you are using a Terminal Server and other users are using the same dex.ini as you).
