Pick to Container

Hello,

I want to configure D365 (on mobile device) to Pick the items to a Container (Pallet) directly and scan the Pallet license plate labels on the container individually while loading the same to the truck.  I understand that system automatically creates containers at the time of release to Warehouse if I have configured the Automated containerization. (they don't want to follow this process as the system automatically decides what item goes to which pallet based on the dimensions).

In this case, my client wants to create the container ID at time of picking using mobile device. So it is a kind of manual packing process on the device.

Any suggestions?

Regards,

Narasimha

Can you use the LP Id as the Pallet Id? Each sales work that you complete will have a 'Target LP'. Use this to represent the Pallet.

    Hi,

When we release the SO to WH, it creates one work for the entire order. However, a Sales Order can be picked and packed into multiple pallets and they want to scan the pallets individually at the time of loading to Truck. When we do manual or automatic containerization, we can print the container contents report (of course we have to customize the report to include barcode to scan) and scan the same at the time of loading.

Is packing a separate physical step, or are the orders picked onto the pallets which they will be shipped on?

Yes, Orders are directly picked onto the Pallets..

Ok, for building your pallets, try this:

On the mobile device menu item, enable 'Allow splitting of work'. When picking the work, the worker can pick a full pallet. When the pallet is full, press the 'Full' button on the hand held. The work lines that have been completed will be moved on to new Work and will be on the Target LP that was entered when the work was started.

Repeat for the remaining work lines. When you're done, you have multiple Target LPs which contain the items that you picked on to them.

Have you thought about how you will do the 'scanning of pallets on to the truck' part?

Yes, I will pick to stage first and then from stage to Baydoor.  When loading the truck at the Baydoor, I will scan the work ID since I will have separate work ID for each pallet that is picked in Full.  Do you think that will work?

Thanks for your advice. Yes if I have follow the "Full" pick functionality then I don't have to worry about containerization right?

Yes, I do. Notice how, when you use a mobile device menu item that is set to 'User directed', the hand held asks you to scan a Work Id or LP Id?:

    vud.jpg

This means you can load each Pallet by scanning its LP Id. Furthermore, if you want, you can set the mobile device menu item to do 'Validated user directed'. When you choose this option, you have to choose a field against which validation should be performed. You can choose fields from the Work header. In this example, the worker will be asked to enter the Load Id (for the Work they wish to load). Then each LP that is scanned will be validated to ensure that it is for Work which has the same Load Id:

    vud.jpg

It should be possible to do similar with OrderNum (same sales order number) or Shipment (same shipment number).

Validated user directed is completely optional, but it gives you the chance to validate that the worker is not loading the wrong LP.

Right. You can simply scan each Pallet LP Id to load it.
