Hi Everyone,

I upgraded Gp 2010 version 11.00.2197 to gp 2013 r2.The upgrade went well without any hitch. But when I installed the fixed asset module which was not there before and I ran the utilites,I got the following error There was a problem ascertaining product version information.
Microsoft Dynamics Gp utilities will now exit. Please check the duinstall.log for more information.

when I looked at duinstall.log I got the following errors:-

Failure encountered ON 8/15/2014 at 5:49:15 PM.  Error:  Product 309 does not support upgrading from version 10.0.774.
Failure encountered ON 8/15/2014 at 5:50:13 PM.  Error:  Product 309 does not support upgrading from version 10.0.774.

And when I remove Fixed asset module and run utilities the Gp 2013 r2 works fine.
What should I do in order to succeed in installing the fixed asset module?

RomRyan

Thanks Guys for your contribution.I got a breakthrough in this and now am enjoying the magic of GP 2013 r2.

I had all the suggestions in pipeline but what I since I was a bit reluctant to return to the previous version I first opted to try Jonathan Fear suggestion and worked perfectly and fixed asset module went on smoothly.I have kept all the suggestion is a folder for future references incase I encounter a hitch.Once again thank you guys.

If you do not use Fixed Assets (or you didn't before but are going to) you can reinstall it like Leslie said. You can run the following scripts (please note all data for FA will be lost if you do this):

    Delete DYNAMICS..DB_Upgrade where PRODID = 309 and db_name = 'xxxx'

Delete DYNAMICS..DU000020 where PRODID = 309 and companyID = xx

Delete DYNAMICS..DU000030 where PRODID = 309 and companyID = xx

If you need to do this for Dynamics please run the following script against Dynamics:

    Drop Table FAINST01

You can find the Companyid by running the following script (you need to use this same script for Dynamics if you are reinstall this module for Dynamics as well):

    select CMPANYID,CMPNYNAM,INTERID from Dynamics..SY01500

Last you need to run the following drop scripts against each company you need to reinstall the module for:

    Drop Table FA41000

    Drop Table FA00200

    Hi RomRyan,

I'm betting the Fixed Assets module had at some time been installed and a record was written to the DB_Upgrade table in the DYNAMICS database. The DB_Upgrade table keeps track of the modules that have been installed and the version and build number of those modules. There are two sets of columns, one says the product you are on, and the other tells the version you are trying to go to. By querying this table, you'll discover which company(ies) is throwing the error. Now, what to do.  If Fixed Assets had been installed, the tables were generated and are sitting in your database waiting to be upgraded. They cannot be upgraded, because they are too old. What it sounds like you want to do is to start fixed assets anew. One way to do this is to remove the FA tables and stored procs from your database, and then reinstall FA. You'll need to edit the DB_Upgrade table (as well as the DU000020 table) to remove the Fixed Assets record. There's a KB on how to uninstall FA: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/874365.

Of course, try this in a test before blowing through production - and backup, backup, backup ;)

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

You are going to need to roll back to the version of GP you were using prior to the upgrade. It sounds like you had the fixed asset code on the workstations but not on the server. After you roll back to the previous version of GP add the fixed asset module to the server and run GP Utilities. That will up FA to whatever version you were using prior to the upgrade and then you can proceed with the next upgrade.
