Quantity Allocated issue

I have a user trying to do an Item Transfer Entry. The Qty on Hand shows 98 are available. But, the system prompts with a message, "The quantity entered is greater than the quantity available." After looking into this, it is showing that there is a Qty Allocated of 5, but when you click the Allocated link to show the allocated items, there is nothing allocated.

How do I fix this without running a Reconcile? This will require the users exiting GP which means shutting down many parts of our company because users cannot work.

What is the solution? It would great if there was a simple SQL Script solution.

Please Help!!!

I personally would only ever try and fix with a reconcile.  You can just do a reconcile on the one item which would probably mean all users out for about 5 - 10 mins.

Do you ever run reconcile on the inventory system?  It is certainly a process that should be run before stocktakes.

There is also a Inventory reconcile in the Project Accounting module under Tools >> Utilities >> Projects >> PA Reconcile IV. Try running that and see if it fixes the problem.

I agree with Heather on the reconcile.  Depending on how many modules you use, this could be many tables.    Cleaning up allocations via SQL is dangerous as it is easy to miss a table.   Let's start with what modules do you use that involve IV?  Mfg, Field Service, Project, any ISV's?

Are you comfortable working in SQL?

I have a script that shows all records in all tables that contribute to the allocation.  Email me at rwhaley@accoladepublications.com and I will send you a copy.

I had the same issue before and I repeated to reconcile 2-3 times for that item. Finally it is fixed.

    Hi,

You might also run the PSTL reconcile. PSTL is free and is faster.

If you want to do it from SQL, I think the only tables that have that field are the ones listed below. When I have had an allocation problem that reconcile didn't fix, I have just modified the IV00102, IV00112 and IV00300 tables. You might not need to adjust anything beyond the IV00102 table, it just depends on what modules you have running.

Whatever you do BACKUP YOUR COMPANY DATABASE before doing ANY adjustments via SQL.
