How can system consider the demand forecast, which has the dates in past?

I want to specify the demand forecast for entire month on first day. But system doesn't consider that once the demand forecast is in past.
What best can be done in this situation?
I have the same question (0)

That is correct, D365 does not consider forecasts that have a date earlier than today's date. First, I would familiarize yourself with these 2 references articles:

As far as approaches, I think the thought behind standard OOB behavior (regardless of if you agree or not) is that if the date is in the past, and there is still forecast demand that has not been reduced or consumed by real demand, than your forecast was wrong. You should re-forecast for future periods, or move the remaining manually to a future period if it is still legitimate demand.

Other approaches would be to move the demand forecast date to the end of the month and use something like reduction keys to help support reduction.

    Good day,

I think the reducion keys could be a solution:

@andrewlencsak Thanks for the answer, I have enabled the reduction key as Transactions Dynamic Period.
But if we keep the demand forecast at the end of month then, it will not be netted for the current month. it will be netted against the subsequent month.
Any other solution can we think of in such scenario?

I think a reduction key is used when netting real orders from forecast.

Instead, I would look at a Period key. They are configured at Master planning > Setup > Demand forecasting > Period allocation categories

If you create a Period key with the Lines shown in the attached picture and add it to your Demand forecast lines, it will spread your monthly forecast over four weeks. This way, the entire months forecast will not disappear on the 2nd day of the month.

If you're uploading your forecast lines, its easy to set a Period key during import.

If you want to test it by manually setting a Period key on your Demand forecast lines, it's harder.

On the Demand forecast lines screen, on the General tab, you'll find the Period key field, but for me it is read-only.
Add fields called Method and Period key on to the screen using Personalisation. For some reason, these will be editable.
Set the Method to Key and then select your Period key.
    Press Save.
The Allocation grid at the bottom of the screen will update automatically.
