What are the Onebox Dev VHD licensing terms?

Hi, I'm pretty new to this whole Dynamics AX/FO thing, I support several AX devs.

I've figured out the basics of the Onebox VHD setup. What are the licensing terms for both the OS and the included Visual Studio? Documentation is sparse to begin with, don't think I've seen a EULA or licensing terms or anything. (No, I don't know what our licenses for the whole org or our department (which is kind of a weird sidecar department). I'd love to say "A3 with Software Assurance" or whatever, but getting info from other departments is...not easy.

Most of the devs have MSDN with Visual Studio Pro as a minimum, can sign into our Azure Devops instance via some sort of federated AD.

Hi TechMonkey,

The OS and Office software on the VM are evaluation copies. They will actually expire. You can replace them with an own license. Related to Visual Studio, you need to bring your own licenses.

Yes, we're aware. I'm trying to find out where the terms that govern their use are - mostly care about the OS and AX licenses, Visual Studio seems covered.

Hello TechMonkey,

For Visual Studio, your licenses seem to be sorted. However, there are two categories of Visual Studio licensing that is available. This is a separate license.

You can get the Visual Studio 2015 Subscription through either of the following programs:

- Visual Studio Professional Edition subscription (Which you already have)

- Visual Studio Enterprise Edition subscription (Can upgrade to)

You get Windows Server 2016 licenses which limits you to 5 users per license with the above program, if you wish to use it. This is specifically for all the developers who work on the development VMs. You can evaluate the WIndows licenses using the Windows evaluator tool.

Assumption:

(Assuming these are Dynamics FO On-Premise virtual machines residing on the Azure platform that you have visibility to).

look for EULA end user license agreement

may search for EULA on Dev box and should get more details

If it's a cloud subscription DEv VM then anyway you don;t get admin access
