Is there an article somewhere that will help me determine what permissions I will give for different type of users?  E.g., Warehouse users? How do I create profiles and apply the profile whenever we create new user?  Please advise.

RE: Determining Dynamics Nav Profile - Security Permissions

    HI All,

Thank you for your responses.  FYI, I know how to set permissions for each user although I haven't ventured into creating profiles and be able to select that when creating users, if at all possible.  I gather this is called Role ID. I was hoping to get guidelines on when to apply BASIC or WHSE when creating new user and setting up user permissions.  E.g., if we have a user that will be doing accounting, what permission do we give him/her? There are a lot of built in permissions for GL accounts.  Do I select all GL account related? Do we have some type of guidelines on which default permissions to set for a specific user?  Or do we just experiment and find out which permission sets work for a specific set of users?

    hi,

search the function "User" in search bar and it will navigate you to the User card.

In this card, Last fasttab is "Permission Set"

You will find different permission sets code and its description is self explanatory. select the permission set according to user profile in organisation.

If you do not find any standard permission sets in your database company then you can copy it from cronus database by using rapid start functionality.

If you have any customization which used new objects (like tables , pages) then it needs to include in permission set detail.

    Regards,

    Saurabh Shah
