Why Is More Quantity Being Requested?

Hi:

When I tested the entry and processing of a Released Production Order in Manufacturing, the Components window "wanted" a quantity "one more" for each of the BOM's components.

For example, one of the components of the BOM calls for a quantity of only 4.  But, the Components window wanted 5.

I did not discover this, until I processed lot numbering in Item Tracking Lines of the Components window.

No scrap percentage or anything along those lines is in place.

And, I was able to adjust the quantity manually in order to correct this.

But, why is more quantity than what is in the BOM being requested?

Thanks!

John

That is not standard unless you have scrap on items or BOMs. Were you using Consumption journal or Production Journal?

    Hi John,

Possible scrap is generated, so system asking for additional components to complete the Production Order.

    Many Thanks,

As you say you have no scraping defined. Can it have something to do with unit of measures. Do you have the same base unit of measure for the item that the UOM being used in your BOM ?

Hi Kim: "Were you using Consumption journal or Production Journal?"

I wasn't using the Consumption Journal.

I opened the Production Journal once.  But, I made no changes in that Journal.

And, there is Backward Flushing throughout.
