In Transit Transfers

Good day,

Has anyone encountered any issues with the In Transit facility where it may hang either in the 'ship' option or 'receiving'?

    Hi Rosemary-

    Thank you for your post.

    I personally have not had any reported issues where the In-Transit Transfer functionality was experiencing performance degradation.

    When GP hangs, does it eventually respond?

    What kind of items are you using? Does the size of the transfer seem to impact whether GP will hang?

    Thanks for your response, the system hangs sometimes during the 'ship' but generally posting of the 'receipt'. I am trying to ascertain if it's a network issue. There are a couple of users who work at a remote location and they access GP via Terminal Server.

    They are inventory items and generally the transfers don't exceed 20 line items, if that's what you're referring to in terms of 'size'.

    When it hangs the stock get's messed up, there are instances where you need to do a 'normal' transfer from the ship via site, which works.

    Thank you for your post. You may have already seen, but you could look at our Optimizing and Maintaining Performance for Microsoft Dynamics GP | Microsoft Docs.

    When you say normal transfer, is this not using the VIA Site ID in the In-Transit Transfer feature, or a standard Item Transfer Entry?

    Does the same issue occur when you use the In Transit Transfer but no VIA Site ID?

    If you are considering a network issue, is GP installed on a local machine where you could do the complete transfer on the one install? This should eliminate the network theory.

    You could consider logs to see if you see something hanging and/or repeating.
