Embedding logo into word document template

Hi experts,

I am creating a word document template for an entity. I am trying to find a way to embed the logo of current company to the document so that, the current company's logo gets generated whenever user downloads the word document through export to word functionality of a form.

So far I saw, we can embed a logo into an ER report but I can't find ways to achieve the same in a word document template.

Any inputs or suggestions will help. Thanks in advance

Yes, the fields can be mapped by adding the entities. I initially tried that as well in the below mentioned way.

The company logo will be stored in the table CompanyImage as a container field "Image".

I joined this table with my custom table and added the "Image" container type field to my entity. But the field is not available in the list of fields in the word template to be mapped. Container type fields got excluded.

Hi @John Bright

You do not need ER for word document templates.

For any document all you need is related Data entity and the rest works same as the Excel add-in.

Your entity should return you data from CompanyInfo.

here is an example from standard Template

Thanks for your response.

Here, the client is specific about using word templates and not ER report.

So far, I tried to customizing the below way. Typically in ER we will be mapping the bitmap field that stores the logo against an image in the template.

I thought of trying the same way for word document templates.

1) I created a unmapped container field in the entity of EDT type bitmap.

2) Created a syscomputer method that returns the company logo as bitmap and mapped that method to the unmapped field.

This customization didn't even compile. It threw a data base synchronization error while compiling.

Hi @John Bright,

As far as i know, embedding a variable logo into the word file in the document template is not feasible without customization. Similar ask was there from our team for one of the project for making Purchases agreement documents, and technical said it is difficult to develop, so i used ER configuration to achieve this (this one you are already aware). Let's hear from other experts as well.

Yes, that is right, I am creating a document in document templates and trying to map the company logo field somehow to dynamically generate the logo while downloading. Is it possible to achieve this through some configuration or some customization over backend?

I am not sure if I understood it. If you mean the following, then I would expect to have it in the document template.
