GP 2013 R2 Analysis Cubes not appearing after deployment

Posted on by 75,730

I just completed an installation of GP 2013 R2 Analysis Cubes. They have been deployed and SSIS packages have been run. When I go into Excel and choose Other Data Source -> Analysis Cubes, it see the Dynamics GP Analysis Cubes but then none of the cubes show up. This is using SQL Server 2014 and I used the install routines for SQL Server 2014. I have compared this installation to other SQL 2012 installations and I cannot see any differences. What can I look at to get these cubes to appear?

In my case it was a question of being too tired for cubes. I had not populated the datawarehouse. Pg 17 of the guide.

Please confirm, if you setup Analysis Services as Multidimensional or Tabular mode. I was doing the mistake, that I didn't notice my SSAS mode. Once, I installed it as Multidimensional mode and then, I installed Analysis cube over it, its working fine.

I am also facing the same problem. Wondering, if someone has resolved this ...

On the SQL server, connect to Analysis Services, go to Properties on the main level, and then add the Windows account for the user in question to the Security section. You could also try granting the user access to one of the roles under SSAS -> Databases -> Dynamics GP Analysis Cubes -> Roles to grant specific access to the cube but that shouldn't be necessary if you give them access at the top level.

If that doesn't work, maybe the version of Excel is having trouble communicating with SQL 2014. Maybe try from a newer version if possible or from a different machine. Also, I recommend verifying that you can browse the cubes directly through Analysis Services in SQL.
