Enable Lookup for Custom Dimensions in Excel Add-in

(4) ShareShare

I am trying to enable custom dimensions as fields in the Excel add-in for D365FO. When I check the lookup for these custom dimensions, the lookup is showing all dimension values together instead of filtering them for each specific custom dimension.

Has anyone faced this issue before? Is there a way to configure the lookup so that it shows filtered values for each custom dimension?

    Hi,

Could you show us the entity you are using in your excel add in as well as the field and the result ("showing all dimension values together").

    Kind regards, Adis

Hi @Adis Thank you for response

    Answering your question

DimAttributeFinancialTagEntity  entity exposes all DimensionFinancialTag values regardless of which custom dimension we are trying to populate, which is why we are seeing all values together in the lookup.

    Hi,

Sorry, I couldnt find the proper entity. Can you tell me the name\label entity data source in your excel- addin?
Is it a custom entity or a standard one?

    Kind regards, Adis

    Hi,

Yes, in Excel Add-ins, the custom dimensions are shown all together; I think you should do customization to separate them.

    Thanks,

This is not directly supported because all the custom dimension values are stored in the DimensionFinancialTag table, and you will have to filter the different custom dimension values, using the DimensionAttribute RecID value which I definitely do not recommend. Defining relations in the data entities is possible using fields and fixed numerical values only, you cannot do it by name.
