How do I set cursor movement during a sales transaction?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

When I enter an item code into the sale screen and press tab or enter the cursor moves to the next row rather than across the current row.  My users need to enter the quantity sold for most of the items that we sell.

Page 402 or the SO Users Guide says:

To ring up items

1 Position the cursor in the

Item Lookup Code field on the transaction screen.

2 Either scan the item (if the item has a barcode on it and a barcode reader is attached to the register), or type the lookup code and press Enter. If the item exists in the item database, it will be retrieved and displayed on the current line. Depending on how the cursor movement is set, the cursor will either advance to the next line or to the Description field.

Where is this setting found and what should it be set to so that the cursor moves across the row.

Thanks,

Terry

    Hi,

Sorry for the late answer but I was travelling.

The solutions is a hook, which I suggest is accompanied but a button to turn it on & off.

Create an add-item hook that looks at the current item and refocuses on it with a couple of tabs following that to set the field focus.

    Good afternoon Terry,

Thank you for posting about entering quantity.

I have not seen a way to change this movement; but am checking and will let you know if I find anything.

If these are weighed items I would recommend that you set them up as an Item Type of Weighed which will then prompt for the cashier to enter the weight at the POS.

If these are simply items the cashiers are counting then I would recommend that they:

    1. Enter the quantity counted.

    2. Press the * key.

    3. Scan the item.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Additionally:

    RMS SO v 2.0

    Feature Pack 4

    Windows 7

    No barcode scanner.
