collections management printing is slow

Posted on by 20

Dear Community,

Since upgrading to GP2010, we decided to use Word as our letter writer within collections management.  We build a query, then we query letters, choose our word letter and go.  The system creates and sends each letter in the query individually.  It takes about 5 to 10 seconds to print each letter.  We have hundreds of customers in our queries, and this just takes too long.  Is anyone experiencing the same issue?  Does anyone know a "fix" for this behavior?

Thanks in Advance

John

    Hi John,

Thank you for submitting your inquiry to the Dynamics Community.

I have seen an issue similar to what you are experiencing with the Collection Letters and it was related to Terminal Services.

Are you using Terminal Services or Citrix?  If so, try printing the letters directly on the Terminal Server or the Citrix Server without going through a session.

Another thing to check would be anti-virus, malware and firewalls.  For the anti-virus you should exclude the GP code folder as well as IDX, DAT, and TNT files. If there is no change with configuring the anti-virus try temporarily disabling it.

Running a Procmon log during the printing process may also help to determine if there are any other processes such as security applications running that could be causing performance issue. If you see other processes running disable or end those if possible and test again.

I hope this information is helpful to you. Please post back if we can be of further assistance.

    Have a great day!
