Export to BYOD - have to create an object first. Is Export to Data Lake the same?

When exporting something to a BYOD, one can't just grab a table: An object has to exist or be created (and can be made up of 1 or more tables itself)

Is that correct? 

Does it work the same way when exporting from Dyanamics FO to Datalake via the built in connector?  i.e. MS documentation on the connector

    Hi, In BYOD, tables cannot be used directly to export data. We need standard or custom Data entities for it. However, in Azure Data Lake, we can use tables and Data entities both, as shown below
