BCP Error - Installation on client workstations

BCP Utility is not Loaded ---- Error that tells us that the BCP Utility fails when running GP Utilities on an update from GP2010 to GP2013.

The server is the same

The workstations and user ID's are the same

On Friday all was working - GP2010

Over the weekend we did an update of the system to GP2013 (12.00.1801) and had NO errors on the Server for over 10 company databases.  We completed the update on the Terminal Server from GP2010 to GP2013 with no errors.

Monday morning on site the first workstation updated - with GP2013 R2 and also with the 2014 Tax Update installed (12.00.1801) generated an error that the BCP Utility failed - see below

True enough, GP Utility fails and stops.

I have tried to run as Admin, I have uninstalled everything and logged on as Administrator, I have installed as Administrator and changed the compatibility, I have done all the things that the various - really old posting - suggest.

The Server Names and the Databases Server Name are the same.

Mean while with all this happening, the Terminal Server and the actuall SQL Server are not having any issues with running the application.

Server is a Hyper V - VM running Server 2012 - no errors

Workstations are all Windows 8 - and they are all failing - Windows 8.1 Pro with 8gig, running 64bit OS

Anyone got any suggestions.  The client is pissed to no end -- we completed the update and told them we are moving forward with the workstation update and now it is noon on Monday and we have nothing to show - we need this resolved ASAP.

RE: BCP Error - Installation on client workstations

I have opened a case with Tech Support, but I was hoping to not waste an entire day waiting for them - has anyone out there got an idea?

I am not afraid to try anything at this point.

All I can think is you might be executing Utilities by running GP itself such that it sees Utilities has not run and then shells that startup and that is not being run as an administrator.

Have you gone to Start ->  All Programs -> Microsoft Dynamics -> GP2013 folder and then right clicked directly on GP Utilities and selected run as administrator?

    Seems I've seen this prior.

    Good Luck

    Hi Bill,

Have you tried deleting and recreating the ODBC connection?

I believe this is still accurate for GP 2013.

We did the delete and re-installation of the MDAC and that did not solve the problem.

Sorry Tim, we were in the GP2013 folder on the local computer and we did the standard drag and drop to the EXE file.

    No difference.

All the time logged onto workstation(s) as a DOMAIN ADMINISTRATOR

    Thanks for the try.

Did you try to add the user in security options of GP Folder ? It should work, once you change security option from GP folder properties.

    Hi Bill,

Have a look at this old thread :

RE: BCP Error - Installation on client workstations

So, Beat here is the weird part and the solution that works for all the workstations.

Keep in mind that the Server install of the client, the Terminal Server install of the client and one workstation install of the client work, exactly as expected.

Three workstations fail to properly execute the GP2013 Utilities.  It is when we execute the Utilities that all fails.

The working solution we figured out was to 'copy from the operational workstation' the operational Dynamics.dic - DynUtil.dic - Canpay.dic and other Dictionary files as needed.  Then to set the Dex.ini so that Utilities were not run on these workstations, we set the

Syncronize = FALSE as well as Initial = FALSE

Once this is done, you will not be required to run utilities - and in our case we dont want to.

Once these two steps are done, we then run GP2013 and encountered no errors.  The client is now up and fully runnning and encountering no errors.

As we were running the workstation as the Domain Administrator during the installation process, the level of security on the Dynamics folder does not come into play.
