Receivables Transaction SmartList Returning Blank Data

Greetings!

Yet another mystery… I have a user running their daily sales report from the Receivables Transactions SmartList and the results are blank for both the Posted Date and the Posted User ID.  We are using the out of the box Receivables Transactions SL and I’ve verified that it has not been modified in SmartList Builder.  The posted date shows as 0/0/0000 and the Posted User ID is simply blank.

We’re running GP2013 SP2 and have not made any changes in over a year.  This started to occur about 2 months ago with the date, and I was just notified today about the user ID.

Their query is very simple as they are just looking at the previous day’s sales.  If I query RM20101 with the same parameters as the SL, I DO get a Posted Date and I do see the Posted User ID.   I’ve done my due diligence within GP and tested this thoroughly and end up with the same (blank results).  This is happening in all of our company databases so it seems to be SmartList related.  Has anyone experienced this behavior? Any suggestions on where to look?

Thanks in advance!

JIM

    UPDATE: Problem Solved!

It turns out that the SL had been opened in SLB (no changes were present) which apparently overrode the out of the box SL.  We were able to delete the SL by simply clicking delete on the screen in my earlier post.  Restarted GP and let the SL update upon launch.  All favorites remained and I didn't need to do any additional work.

It should be noted that the original version included an asterisks at the end of the name (Receivables Transactions*).  Seems that this is the indicator that even though it shows as "existing" that it really is not the original.

Thanks again to everyone for your input.  It's appreciated as always!

RE: Receivables Transaction SmartList Returning Blank Data

    Hello,

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to respond.  My apologies as I must have not been clear on the details of the SmartList.  This is NOT a customized SL created in SmartList Builder.  This is the out of the box Receivables Transactions SL.  The SQL results I included in the above screen shot were just for comparison.  I ran the SL and then ran a query on the RM table just to verify the data exists.  You can see in the tables that the ID and Date are present.

Note – this behavior exists in all company databases (7) and for all dates.  Also, this SL has been used for several years without a problem.

Babu/Harry – I ran grant.sql on the company databases with no luck.

Harry – I verified that DYNSA is the db owner for all company databases.  I’ve not run checklinks in a little while (within 2 months), but this problem was first reported before then. However, I’ll put this on my list of things to do after hours tonight.

George – I disabled SLB from the Customization Status window but still get the same results.

Jonathan – No field level security on this.   Exporting to Excel includes the blanks and no data.  I think I answered your other questions above (no SQL queries involved).

I’ll keep digging and see what I can find.

Here’s the SmartList detail. You can see that it is the out of the box version.

    Jim,

This is a rather odd problem.  I wouldn't think this a problem with security of the SmartList object since users are able to run it.  By chance do you have any field level security in place that would prevent users from seeing this information?  The next thing I would do is click on Modify > Options > Display SQL and validate that there is nothing added to the statement.  If you export to Excel does the missing data display?  Can you copy the SQL from this object and create a new object and see if you get the same results?

    Hey Jim,

I ran across something like this recently. Are you running SmartList Builder on this workstation? If so, try disabling SmartList Builder from within GP's Customization Status window then try running your Smart List again. Does the same issue occur?

Babu may be onto something. Have you tried Running Grant.sql against the database in question? Have you checked to make sure the database owner is DYNSA? Did you try running checklinks?

    Jim,

Has this query in SQL has grand access to DYNGRP.

RE: Receivables Transaction SmartList Returning Blank Data

Babu - Yes, I've run this as SA with the same results.

Bill - Yes, I've queried the RM tables (well, RM20101 only) and confirmed that the posted user ID and the posted date are there.  No matter the date range I pull in the SL, last week to last year, the data is blank.  I query the same range in the RM tables and see the data is present.

The SL is the out of the box version.  I've attached some screen shots that are hopefully helpful.  Shows the SL and the same query in SSMS.

Compare the same record set in SL to same in SSMS (RM20101).

Jim, when you say you verified the tables, have you looked at the tables in SSMS and actually seen the dates and user ID in the SQL Table?

Then you have also verified you are looking at the same SSMS table and as well in SL?

Interesting challenge to state for everyone the obvious.

    Hi Jim,

Just wanted to confirm, have you tried to run the smarlist using SA.

    Somakarpagamoorthy,

Thanks for responding!  I've verified all of the RM tables and tested multiple dates.  All transactions I am reviewing have been posted.  I also have no duplicate records.  Any other thoughts or suggestions?  Thanks!

    Jim
