Hi Community,

I would like to keep the personal information from showing up too easily in Navision 2018, how can I use Data Classification Worksheet for this?

This is also to adhere to Data Protection laws.

Previously, I have used an ERP system, that allows me to put asterisks on personal IDs, can this be done in Navision 2018?

The Data Classification Worksheet is part to helping to classifying data sensitivity to ensure that you know where you keep personal data in your system, and makes it easier to respond to requests from data subjects. For example, if a contact or customer asks you to export their personal data.

In NAV we have the permission setting to give users access to that data they should see and disallow users to have access to data they should not see. Therefore, beside of password I do not know there is a functionality to mask data and show them later on.

But maybe others can add their experiences here as well.

Josh,

Adding to Sebastian's reply... As he noted, the Data Classification Worksheet allows you to classify sensitive data within NAV and what can and cannot be exposed to outside parties. Permissions, for Users, allows you to restrict what your Users can see and/or touch. In NAV, if still available, Easy Security allowed you to lock down fields and data to users or groups of users. However, this is not available in BC. I do know of this APP, which might be available in NAV, but not sure: www.fenwick.com.au/.../

You can encrypt data on the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server by generating new or importing existing encryption keys that you enable on the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server instance that connects to the database.
