How do I create a Model-Driven PowerApp

So my customer has asked me to create a Model-Driven PowerApp for them, but I am having quite a lot of problems finding information about how to do this.

I know how to create a Canvas PowerApp against Entities in D365FO, but I can find no information about how to create Model-Driven PowerApps.

Now the reason I am looking for a way to create Model-Driven PowerApps is that the client has been given access to use Model-Driven PowerApps against D365FO only in their licence, so they would like to know what they can use them for.

I have the same question (0)

Model driven apps are tightly integrated to the entities in Common Data Model (Part of Common Data Service). You can not create a model driven app on an entity for D365FO.

The only way to achieve this is to use (either existing or create new) entity in Common Data Model and the build the MOdel driven app using that entity. But in this case you will need to somehow integrate data between D365FO & Common Data Model There are multiple options such as integrations (Logic app, Dual-write etc.). It really depends on what you need.

    Hope this helps.

That might help, but I have not been able to find any information about how to setup D365FO & Common Data Model.

Do you perhaps have a link to some documentation about how to do this?

Do you mean how to setup integration between the two? Try Dual-write home page, for instance.

Yes I think this might be what I am looking for, thanks.

The customer has been given licenses to use Model-Driven PowerApps, so we are looking into what exact options that will give them to offer some simple powerapps for their users to perform minor updates of data in their D365FO solution.

One of the thinks we are trying to make, is an app to approve invoices, but perhaps also more to come later.

So I am just trying to find the best solution, so any further input would be appreciated.

For now I am sure your link will help me get further that I was so far able to get on my own, so thanks for that.

    Dear Rudi,

    thanks for your answer

my question like yours and I wanna ask you if you find a solution?

I need to create like create sales orders or transfer orders forms into Dynamics 365 through a power model-driven application.

    thanks in advance

Hmm Ahmed, sorry I am not really able to give you a specific answer.

I am not working on the project any more since I was just asked to make a proof of concept.

But we did decide to work with the Canvas powerapps instead at the time.

But since MS made virtual data entities you may be able to use them as basis for a model driven app.

I am afraid that is the best hint I can give you at the time, since I am not working on it any more.
