Materials need for Job capture in MRP as a Demand or how to manage them

Hi

If we add items to Job how we can make them appear as Demand then MRP can capture them? Or how you can manage materials you need for Job. I mean assuming we do not keep any inventory in hand and we only order when needed by Job for project.

Thanks

I have the same question (0)

The Job needs to be in Open status for the Job Demand to be picked up by MRP.  You also need to ensure the Reordering Policy is set on the Item/SKU record.  Lastly, ensure there is a reason for the MRP to make a suggestion (meets planning parameters for making a suggestion).

    Hi Ben Baxter

    Thanks for your response here

    Just to make sure

if Job is in Open status and we have no inventory of that item then MRP pick that item up as demand.

I may missed the " You also need to ensure the Reordering Policy is set on the Item/SKU record." do you mean "Reordering Policy" need to set on "Order" or "lot for lot" or any reordering policy will work here?

    Thanks again

Any policy will work as long as the parameters are met.  For example, if you use Fixed Reorder and have a Reorder Point of 10, but have 100 on Hand, it won't make a suggestion.  Either Order or Lot-for-Lot should work if the Quantity on Hand is Zero.

It may be a version issue.  In older versions, the "Apply Usage Link" toggle needed to be On for it to pick up the demand.  This is no longer the case in BC Cloud.

Thanks Ben Baxter  this was really helpful. I appreciate it

Do you know any good ISV that add more functions to JOB? Like resource planning, resource scheduling, sort of like true project management? this is for SaaS

NETRONIC has a Visual Job Scheduler.  We are currently deploying this at a client site.
