Add name to new field on Item Card

Hello colleagues and good afternoon

In Navision 2018 at some point in the past custom fields have been created on Item Card by a staff who no longer works here.

However they have not been named properly.

I do have access to NAV Dev Env. Can someone point me to where I should correct this?

Also, the wrongly named fields do not come out on the Excel sheet produced on pressing Ctrl+E. Is the wrong naming the issue here?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

You need to check if you have the developer licence with you which enables you design any objects in the NAV side.

If you have this then follow below image and find your Field and change the caption and Save and compile same time, come out from Object and Run RTC and see the effect.

    Dear Nitin

I do have developer license and could find the page you showed.

Specifically, the headers on the Item List Page 31 have not been named correctly and it seems that when they are not named correctly, they don't come out on the excel produced from pressing Ctrl+E

There are many places where Caption is shown the page Item List; can you give more specific advice about where i should look?

If you don’t have development access it would not be easy to change the caption,

one more thing you can try design the page but still it’s required development environment.

for this you need to call your developer or ask your development partner for assistance

    Please follow below steps

    1. Open the Object designers from tools menu

    2. Find the object page with id 31

    3. Click on design from the right bottom button

    4. Find the control which you want to change the caption

    5. Edit the caption you desired

    6. Close and save the page designer

    7. Run RTC again and see the effect

    Dear Nitin

    Thank you for this support.

These steps did help succeed in renaming the fields

However, when I press Ctrl+E, they still do not come out on the Excel

Do you have any advice there? How can i find the setting that controls whether or not the field comes out on excel?

    Thank you

Try going to the Table object #27.

    Right-click --> Design

Select one of the fields which is an issue.

Shift + F4 to open the properties of that field.

Name/Caption/CaptionML (multi-language) are probably the first things to examine here.

You could also compare the properties of this field to another similar field that is exporting properly to try and see where the difference is.

Hi, In fact, there is another solution, using translation files.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics-nav/how-to--add-translated-strings-by-importing-and-exporting-multilanguage-files

    Hope this helps as well.

    Thanks.
