9829000 local system registry does not contain needed information

Hi.  We have installed Dynamics SL 2011 SP1 with the hotfix for the database maintenance screen.  We are receiving the error:  The local system registry does not contain needed information to identify the location of Microsoft Dynamics SL.  To update this information, please install Microsoft Dynamics SL.  We have completely uninstalled Dynamics SL and reinstalled it.  We are still receiving this error.  I made sure that tcpip and named pipes are enabled on the server.  We are running Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks!  It is running off the server but I can try a fresh download.  FYI, they are running on windows server 2008 r2.

    Is the install running off of a CD? is so maybe a fresh download and run it from the hard drive. In fact, maybe a fresh download would be something to try anyway, and then do the uninstall/reinstall thing again.

    Also, maybe you can do a "Run As Administrator".

    These are just some ideas from past installation attempts - I don't remember ever seeing this particular error.

    Hi.  Thank you so much for your quick supply.  There are 2 servers that are being used: a SQL server and a Dynamics server.  I'm running DB Maintenance off of the Dynamics server.  I'll check to see what O/S's are on the server.  Thanks!!

    What is the setup situation you're working with?

    ie:

    Are we talking about an SL install on the same box with SQL or separate from SQL?

    What are the O/S's involved?

    Are you trying to run db maint off of a remote machine or same machine as the SL files?
