    Hi Magi,

I already gone through the second link which you provided  but i have a confusion when we apply the ledger accrual to the charge account how the below entry is effecting

    charge account   debit

    accrual account  credit

    instead of charge account    debit

    temporary account credit.

Could any one explain me the logic behind this.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello subashini,

You usually have the first posting

    DR: charge account

    CR: Accrual account

Where do you have the confusion exactly?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

I think what you call the temporary account is what Ludwig calls the Accrual account

    Seethe first help link

On the Accrual scheme page, you specify the debit and the credit accounts that will be used when the accrual scheme is applied.

    • Debit – The main account that you define will replace the debit main account on the journal voucher line. This account will also be used for the reversal of the deferral, based on the ledger accrual transactions.
    • Credit – the main account that you define will replace the credit main account on the journal voucher line. This account will also be used for the reversal of the deferral, based on the ledger accrual transactions.

I.e the accrual account is reversed out. or...….as it says alter

If an accrual scheme can't be applied (for example, when a sales order invoice or purchase order invoice is involved), you can credit the prepaid amount and debit the expense amount...….and  can then select Offset when you apply the accrual scheme.

You can see another example here http://youmsdax.blogspot.com/2018/11/ledger-accruals-posting.html

Which is more ideal and why :

the same or different debit and credit main accounts, on the accrual scheme setup?

    Hi Elijah Aremu,

It depends what exactly you are trying to achieve. Ideally both should be different ledger account.

You can find the detailed explanation on the below link:
