I ran across this Enterprise Portal (EP) error after the AX SQL DB's were restored to our TEST Environment and so I had to re-register the EP Web sites again: I restarted the SharePoint server, because it failed to see the URL at the time, then ran the AX Client for the TEST Environment | System administration | Setup module | Enterprise Portal | Web sites | Register site. After that the SharePoint EP sites showed the web parts again. We run multiple EP web sites on 1 SharePoint Foundation server for our TEST Environment.

I have performed the same restore process and initially received this message after registering the new EP site.  I discovered the problem to be that I'd forgotten to update the BC Proxy Account in the System Service Accounts form.

Sometime this happens because the windows domain user has been recreated.

You should delete the old imported user, import again and link with the employee.
