Replenishment work

Hi

we have just moved into an new but old warehouse in terms of the layout is very “fractured” with many different areas of racking and zones etc. I am trying to get replenishment configured to ensure the minimum number of work templates are used to created work. However during work creation for min/max replenishment I have some work templates being used to out to locations as the final put (fixed location for the item) that are the correct location but are using a work template I do not want selected. I have configured replenishment myself a fair few times but this scenario is a challenging one.

this is occurring as I have a scenario like below

two work templates one to put items to pick zone 1 and 2 respectively as they each start with items being picked from the same zones for the picking of the replenishment work step 1, but each have different staging steps and totally different zones of the warehouse for the final put step.

work template put pick 1

work template put pick 2

the reason they are different is the number of steps in each different slightly a really simplified example  (of course I am using put location directives and directive codes for the multiple staging steps) is below

work template put pick 1

pick from zones VNA1

put to stage PD1

put to stage mezz1

put to pick1

work template put pick 2

pick from zones VNA1

put to stage PD1

put to pick2

as you can see both have picking from the same initial zones, the get out to the same first stage location, but the one has an additional step of staging to stage mezz1 so needs a different work template. And this is as pick1 locations are in that level of the building so need this extra step.

trouble is I am getting items that on the work are on the final put directed perfectly to pick2 zone locations, no issue, and they are picked from VNA1 locations of course. But the work template used is work template put pick 1. Which is not correct to my needs.

I have tried in the edit query to state the zones to be used for the pick zones to put the replen work to, (as well as the initial pick from zone VNA1) e..g work template put pick 1 only allows zones in the query VNA1 and pick 1. But this still results in the same outcome. I’ve also tried doing the ! In the query on e.g. work template put pick 1 to !Pick2 to prevent this work template being used for work that needs to be out to fixed locations in only pick 1. I thought this should work as I am saying if in VNA1 use me, but only if pick1 and never for pick2. Outcome was work template with lowest sequence number used even when I specifically said do not use if pick 1 zone and do use if pick 2, if would use for pick 1 regardless.

I have had a thought to making each work template 2nd put directive code and location directive code unique in there naming and different, although to the same location stage PD1. As my thoughts are if say work template put to pick 1 needs to find directive code PD1A and I rank that lower than say PD1B, both opt out to the same location. It will force work template put to pick 1 to be used first.

I’ve tried the sequence of work templates higher and lower, the only trouble is it finds which ever one I rank highest first and simply uses that for all work initially picked from VNA1 despite the final put being pick1 or pick2 locations…and the different staging out steps in the work are then wrong with one additional for items that do not need this.

any ideas how I can remedy this?
