Streamlined employee data entry feature

Posted on by 5

Hi All,

I'm trying to understand the Streamlined Employee data entry feature that Microsoft released in October 2019. One of my major concerns is that it's still only found under the Preview Feature tab and can only be enabled using the Preview the enhanced Worker form toggle button. If this was truly released as a feature I don't understand why it still says "Preview". It also has an important message underneath that says:

“When you turn on the Preview Features setting, you enable preview features for all users in your organization who are in that environment. When you turn off the setting, you disable preview features and make them inaccessible to your users. Preview features have limited support in Talent. They might use fewer privacy and security measures, and they aren't included in the Talent service level agreement (SLA). You should not use preview features to process personal data (that is, any information that could identify you), or to process other data that is subject to legal or regulatory compliance requirements.”

Is this truly an update or still a Preview? If I were to enable it in my production environment will there be an issue trying to store data like SSN?

Link on the feature I'm talking about: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365-release-plan/2019wave2/dynamics365-talent/streamlined-employee-data-entry

    Hi Brittany,

You could have a look at this yammer post regarding the same topic: https://www.yammer.com/dynamicsaxfeedbackprograms/#/Threads/show?threadId=423088874528768&search_origin=global&scoring=linear1Y-prankie-group-private-higher&match=any-exact&search_sort=relevance&page=1&search=streamlined

I don't see an issue with using it to track the SSN number in the Production environment though, as this form is GDPR 'compliant' based on the processes.

If you start using it in the Production environment though, Microsoft could still apply changes, or remove the feature completely. The previews are still being tested, and if customers provide feedback (for example bugs), changes could still be applied.
