Activity Report with Notes

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 65

Hi, I searched the forums and it seems it's probably not supported but figure I'd ask if anyone has any ideas or solutions.

I'm trying to create an Activity report but I want to include the Notes since that's where everyone inserted notes pertaining to the Activity.

I know I can create a Notes report or Activities report but not both. Is there a way for me to include Notes in Activity reports?

If you are writing a custom report, you should be able to get this from the annotation entity's notetext field. You should be able to link the activity's activityid to the annotation's objectid.

    Hi Franki,

The out of the box report using report wizard cannot create the report to include the Notes.

Yes, you should create a Custom Report as Raj mentioned.

The notes was stored in the FilteredAnnotation filtered view, and it has type, file or text as well, you can check whether this note has file or just a text.

Any chance you would have time to show me how to run this report?

I found a solution using Report Wizard within Dynamics 365.

For example if you want to create a report on "Leads" so that it includes the Notes for each filtered lead as the index you would create a report using the Report Wizard as follows:

From the Report Properties screen, under Specify the record types to include in this report

    Primary record type: Leads

    Primary record type: Notes (Regarding)

Hit next and enter any filters you want to add.

Next in the layout fields "Add Column or Grouping"

    Add Column

    Record Type: <select Notes>

    Column: <select Title>

    Add another column

    Record Type: <select Notes>

    Column: <select Description>

When you are done defining the columns, hit next to

Format the Report.  Select Table only

Hit, next, next, Finish, Run Report

This same structure can be used for Opportunities and Accounts.
