Account owner can not see all opportunities on account

Account X has 10 opportunities that belongs to the account, but the Accout Owner can  only see 5 of them when opening up the account. I can see all of them since I'm an admin.

It appears to be because those opportunities that he cannot see was created by someone else. This person has since taken over the account.

I had assumed (wrongly I guess) that if a person owns an account, he should be able to see all opportuneties?

Is there an easy way to accomplish that? I mean that account owners can automatically see all opportunities on their own accounts, even though those opportunites might belong to someone else?

Thanks in advance

    Hi,

You have to make changes in the Security Role of user who want to access related Opportunity record.

When you will provide READ privilege for opportunity record, the user will eventually get read privilege over all the opportunity records depending on the access level.

    Thanks & Regards,

So, it might seem that the user only has 'User level' access on Opportunities, which means that he can only see Opportunities that are owned by him.

To see the Opportunities owned by others as well, you have to give him higher 'Read' access on the Opportunity entity, by modifying it on the security role.

Settings -> Security -> Security Roles -> find the security role here -> 'Core records' tab.

You have to toggle the security roles there.

    Hi River,

I agree completely with both Aman and Shidin answers, security roles should be influenced in order to achieve the desired outcome you are asking for.

However, I feel the question you are asking is a bit deeper than just seeing all opportunities under an account. If you go the security role route, the account owners will be able to see all opportunities connected to that account, but also able to navigate to opportunities and view all opportunities not owned by themselves as well.

If you are prepared to go a custom route, may I suggest building a custom workflow, that when an account is assigned to a new owner, it triggers and shares all the opportunities connected to that account WITHOUT having to change ownership of the associated opportunities and also preventing that new account owner from seeing all opportunities outside of the account they now own. Sharing allows users the ability to view the opportunity, without having to own the record and also edit those same opportunities if the sharing rights allow it.

If you are unable to build such a custom workflow, you can try using one of the following sites seen on this website to achieve this: www.ktlsolutions.com/.../sharing-records-through-a-workflow-in-microsoft-dynamics-crm
