Dynamics CRM Online Subscription Management

I support a company that has just migrated to CRM online in Office 365.

Previously, the system administrator was able to assign and remove licences and view users with licences. But now they are on Office 365, they cannot view these details unless they are an admin of the entire Office 365 portal.

Is there anyway for these system administrators to be able to perform the actions mentioned above for CRM only, but not have access to any other subscriptions? Ie. E3 or Lync for example.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's an out-of-the-box way ... I suggest you log a ticket/support request with Microsoft to get an official confirmation. You can do this through the portal.

Alternatively, you could build a simple windows app that retrieves a list of users from O365 portal, displays checkboxes (has access/no access to CRM) next to them, and on save runs commands to assign or remove CRM licenses.

    Funny you should mention that.

I called Microsoft first, and they could not give me a definitive answer, and suggested I posted on here. Haha.

You've got me thinking with my programmer hat now though.

Might play around with that. Thanks.

If possible at all, I'd suggest to re-educate the business to work with the new way of how managing of users are now done in Office 365, rather than building an intermediate interface. It's less ideal to have to maintain this additional custom interface moving forward.

However, if you do want to investigate the custom option, I've never done one myself, but know that it's possible with PowerShell. Check the following link for an example: support.microsoft.com/.../2777380.
