You would setup your 401k match deduction like this:

Then for each EE in the Deductions tab, you set the Fixed Amt/Pct/Rate to 4%.  If the EE has a 401K EE Deduction % of less than 4%, you set it to the same %.  I don't think there is a way to do the calculation as a direct factor of the EE % with a cap.

If you have concerns about the ER% being entered at a % greater than the EE%, you can always add a screen customization to cap the ER% to the EE% if less than 4%.

    Hello Rhoch,

I queried a financial support agent on the team

Well, cannot do what the question implies though, automatically match 100% of the employee’s deduction but cap it at 4%.

You can base a deduction on another deduction but you can’t cap it at 4% like they say.

The way I would setup this match is just create an employer paid deduction for the employer portion of the 401k and just as they do for the employee deduction, enter the percent for each employee individually.  If RHOCH contributes 4% to his 401K, then the employer 401K deduction will also be 4%.  If JANA contributes 6%, the percent for the employer paid deduction will also be set to 4%.  Don’t try to base the employer deduction on the employee deduction because then you can’t cap it at 4%.
