Basic Budgeting - Budget control configuration - Budget cycle time span

Good day,

I have a question around whether you can have 2 Budget cycle’s active at the same time relating to Basic Budgeting - Budget control configuration.

Our company has a financial year end of 31 March

We spend some time on finalising the financial year ending Mar-20 but at the same time want to proceed with the next financial period’s financial transaction and in both cases we need budget control to be active.

With the current configuration I have to change the Budget cycle time span (Define parameters) (Define budget control rules) to FY2020 and activate budget control in order to transact in the 2020 financial period. If we want to transact in the 2021 financial period I have to change the Budget cycle time span (Define parameters) (Define budget control rules) to FY2021 and activate budget control in order to transact in the 2021 financial period.

If I do not make this change I do get budget errors in each budget cycle that is not active.

We will get to a point where we will process a PO roll over to the 2021 financial period.

I am just not sure how to transact in both budget cycles as the budget control rules are setup for all income statement dimensions.

No Define budget groups are setup.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am attaching the Budget control configuration setup for this.

    Good Morning Louis,

I think this is just a configuration problem.

If I have a look at your second and third screenprint from above then I can see that you specified the budget control interval to accounting year and the budget cycle time span to FY2020. With the setup shared in the 3rd screenprint, you would indeed need some manual changes on an annual basis.

Yet, I believe if you slightly change this then there is no manual change needed. Here is a screenprint that illustrates what I refer to:

    5008.budget.png

In the screenprint above a reference is made to the fiscal budget cycle time span, which includes the years 2011 to 2014 in my example. You can of course add additional years as needed without running into the necessity to make a manual change to this setup on an annual basis.

Would be great if you could check and compare this setup in a demo/test environment and let us know if this fixes your issue.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

    Thank you for the suggestion.

Can you please do me a favour – do you perhaps have a bigger screenshot of the one you provided.

I am struggling to read this.

    Kind Regards

    Louis van Wijck

    Hello Louis,

If you click on the picture/screenprint then it should zoom out and show you details in a better quality where you can see more details.

Does that work in your browser?

I use the chrominium where this works fine.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
