Linking an activity to a custom entity

Hello,

Is there any way to link activities to two entities? One is the default Regarding - I want that to set only to Account (always). Then I want a second field - which would be a type of Regarding - and be automatically set to the entity from where the activity is being created.

In short, there would be two links in any created activity, the default regarding would be set to Account, and a second field would be set to a custom entity. There is only one custom entity that I am looking to link the activity to at the moment.

What are my options here? Thank you.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello Aneeqa,

You can create custom 1-N relationship between your activity and custom entity (where activity is the child) and populate that lookup with the reference to your custom entity.

    Hey Andrew,

    Thanks for the tip.

So I created the relationship, and added the lookup field on the activity form [activity types form]. Now, when I populate the lookup field with the reference to the custom entity, I want that activity to also show up in the 'Related Activities' tab in the custom entity form.

    Attached picture for reference:

How do I make this lookup field act like a Regarding field in Activity.

    Thanks.

I'm afraid this will not work the way you want. You will have to place a separated grid to show activities related to your custom entity by new custom field.

Since I created multiple lookup fields for each kind of activity, so in the grid data source, I am getting different options for each activity. I want it to display all activities where that custom entity lookup field is populated; be it appointment, phone call, email etc. How can that be done?

I'm afraid you can't do that.

    Hi Aneeqa,

I would recommend using OOB connections entity instead of creating multiple relationships.

You can create a separate connection role to differentiate multiple regardings.

However you would need to create seperate grid to display these connections.

    Thanks,

    Ketan
