Have you looked at rename primary key..?

A question (though it does not matters much), are you using item number as financial dimension also?

    Hello Shabir Ahmad,

If you have already posted transactions then the best and savest way to get this fixed is creating a new item.

Everything that you have on stock can be cleansed for example by using a counting journal.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Shabir,

It is possible to rename the item number from the user interface (right click, record info, rename record). But... there is no support to functionally rename the global product number. These are stored in two different tables and are not linked when you do rename the item number itself. Or create a new item like mentioned above or consider a custom script which should be tested carefully as you can easily cripple the data.

I would create a new number, rather than mess about with posted transactions but you need to think about how you manage this e.g.

    Affected boms

    Open orders/invoices

    Wip production/projects

    Picked stock

Transfer of stock between item codes

Any batch or serial number issues

    QA orders

    Bar codes

    Stock relabel

    Catalogues/price lists

    Trade Agreements

    etc

Why does the item code really matter as long as its unigue? - you can map and use a different identifier for the search item field for data entity, or create mapped number for customer and vendor, change the description, and incorporate a different number as part of the description,  without any problems.

    Hello Shabir Ahmad,

Wondering whether you have been able to get this issue resolved.

Would be great if you could keep us updated.

    Many thanks and best regards,

    Ludwig
