I had setup Business Portal a couple of months ago. About 2 weeks ago I was told that the web server vm was lost because of hardware failure. I now have to reinstall Business portal as well as SharePoint and web services on a new VM. Has anybody reinstalled Business Portal knowing that the objects are still on the GP databases . Also what are the steps to reinstall sharepoint and web services for GP?

FYI for future reference... this should be treated like a new install, but as Natarajan mentions, please take backups. It is supported to install Business Portal on multiple front end web servers, so the install will recognize that the database objects are already installed and proceed without modifying them.

Hi,
I guess the below steps needs to configure BP on a new VM if the same version is adopted.
1) Take complete backup of Dynamics and Company database
2) Take the sharepoint Content DB as Backup.
3) Install eConnect (Prerequisites for installing Web Service)
4) Web Service Installation(if you have going to maintained the same account, take the web service DB backup- restore it to new VM, during installation point to the existing DB to proceed the installation)
5) SharePoint Installation and upgradation(restore the content DB & start the SP installation)
6) SSRS Installation & configuration(if you have deployed the standard SSRS reports & maintain custom SSRS reports used in Business Portal)
7) Business Portal Installation.
