Customer Field Label not displaying properly

Hello!  I've created a customer field for the publically available phone number for each of the Accounts (to distinguish from other phone numbers) which I have labelled "Business Phone" and I have the "Display Label on Form" box checked.  When I view the Account using the "Account: Information" View it displays correctly, but when I view it on the "Account: Account" view the label displays the word "Phone" only, confusing my users.

I am using the exact same custom field on both forms so I am perplexed. Any ideas?

Do you have enough width under both form views? try to increase the width where the label is being cropped

    Bruno,

Thank you for replying so rapidly!

I have a width setting that is allowing other labels to display properly, e.g.: "Average Days to Ship" "Shipping" and "Default Warehouse" all of which are equal or longer than "Business Phone."  Any other ideas?

Try to hit F12 and check the HTML

If you can see the full description like on the image below, you will know it's some layout issue. either you need to add one more column or may be some custom JavaScript conflict.

    Bruno,

I tried that and got the following:

    <span class="ms-crm-InlineEditLabelText" style="text-align: left; max-width: 105px;">Phone</span>

...though I am not quite sure where that brings us.

are you sure you have updated the display? if the display is correct, did you save and published?

So this is quite perplexing as I am keen on being thorough and moving slowly when I make customizations. Nonetheless, here's what I see when I go to modify the Account in account view:

    1030.CRMFormEditor.PNG

and yet, here's what I am seeing in the browser window:

    0550.CRMFormEditor.PNG

...and finally, here's what I have set up in the Field Editor:

    6787.CRMFormEditor.PNG

I hope that is helpful.  Thank you for taking the time to try to work this out with me!

    That is interesting

try to hit the  "publish all". Do you have another browser version you can try?

    maybe clear the browser cache

if none of this fix the problem, you can either try to contact Microsoft or check to see if there is some other type of customization, like a plugin or JavaScript updating the label

    Hi Erik,

Do you have two Main Forms, namely Account and Information.

If you can change the forms from the Record, then you have two main forms. If that is the case you need to change the field display name in both the form and then publish your customizations.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

    Erik,

"When I view the Account using the "Account: Information" View it displays correctly, but when I view it on the "Account: Account" view the label displays the word "Phone" only, confusing my"

If they are from different forms view (one is Account: Information and another one is Account: Account), to make both are using the same Display Name (if you check the Display Label on Form to ticked), please make sure you update both Form, because each form will show different label based on the each form field setting.

So, go to the Form Editor, update both to the name you want.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

Thank you for your input. I am flummoxed. It seems that when I have one field that is being displayed on two separate forms, if I change and of the properties of the field itself, those changes should appear on any form on which the field is displayed, and in fact this is that case for all of the other fields with which I have worked.

As it stands, no matter which view I use to customize the field, the change reflects on the "Information" view, but not the "Account" view.

When I initiate the Form editor from the view I want to affect, I can see that all of the field properties are set correctly, but it is making no difference to the display of that field on the form!

I have tried all of the above listed suggestions in this thread to no avail. Frustrated, I have created a workaround by creating a separate section for this one errant field and instead of having the field's label display, I am using the section's label instead.
