Can we add links from an a/b test to a if/when customer journey?

Hi,

I'm preparing a customer journey with a couple of if/then branches but i'm running into difficulties.

I want to select the trigger to be if a specific link in my email is clicked then other actions will follow each path, however when i browse through the possible links to select from my published email the specific link i want isn't available.

This content block with the specific link i want to target is part of a full content a/b split test - does that cause issues with if/when customer journeys? Otherwise I can't see any reason why every single other link in the email is presented as a selectable option but the one i want isn't.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

    Hi,

I have tested the case that the link is associated with an image. It cannot indeed be shown in the list.

As the condition here is triggered when the link is clicked, the link associated with the image is not clicked and therefore cannot be tracked.

What you need to do is to put the link on a widget that can be clicked.

    Hi Nya,

No special features, but the same link is associated with a banner image - which does appear in the dropdown.

Perhaps there's a bug in the system that doesn't allow you to use the same url with if/when tiles in CJs?

    Hi Dan

I would like to know if this problem occurs on a specific link or a specific button.

Does the link or button have any special features compared to the others?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Best Regards,

    Nya

    Hi Nya

    Yes it's a standard link.

It did appear in the drop down in one test i've completed, but not in the other 9/10 tests. Looks like this is a bug.

    Hi,

I’d like to know how is the link set on your button.

Is it a static value entered directly or a dynamic URL using the assist edit tool?

If the latter is the case, then it cannot be displayed in the drop-down list.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Hi Nya,

    Thanks for your response

It seems that regardless of how the a/b test is set up, or even if there aren't any a/b tests split up that some links just don't appear in the 'following link has been click' dropdown.

I've added new content blocks and re-added the links but they just don't appear in the dropdown. Are there any formatting prerequisites to be included form the drop down? Other links in the mail, such as social media icons, appear without issue, it's the main CTA buttons that aren't appearing as an option.

RE: Can we add links from an a/b test to a if/when customer journey?

    Hi,

Please make sure if the content of the link in the a/b test has been marked for version A or version B.

    Here is an example.

    Version A:

     5140.png

    Version B:

     42080.png

In this case, if you put the live status email into Customer Journey, the list will show two versions of the link.

     1586.png

The color of Version A is light blue while the color of the contents which have not been marked as test content is blue. These two colors are easily confused.

When the content has been select and the button “A/B” has been clicked, its color will turn into blue. At the same time, the content of Version B will become the same version as Version A.

At this point go to Go Live this email and there will be a WARNING that says: “HTML (A/B Test 'Body test 1'): Your message body is identical for each variant of your A/B test.”

The list in Customer Journey will also show only the current unique link.

So it is recommended to check you’re a/b test first. If there is a similar warning, please re-mark your test versions.

If this helped you, I'd appreciate it if you'd mark this as a Verified Answer, which may in turn help others as well.

    Best Regards,

    Nya
