Tracking abandoned carts and sign ins in website

Hi!

I have received good and helpful answers when I have asked questions in this forum before; therefore, I hope someone here can help me

1. Is it possible to track abandoned shopping carts on a website with dynamics marketing? The shopping cart on the website is a flyout (so, your on the same page when clicking on the shopping cart icon), does that have any affect on how this is handled? How is this achieved in the best way?

2. Is it possible to track sign ins from websites? It’s the same here, when clicking on sign in on the website the sign in is displayed as a flyout. How can you know if someone signed in or not? If it is possible to track sign ins, how is that set up in D365 Marketing?

All answers are appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Eva

    Hi Eva,

Here's a link to a document describing how to use custom triggers to orchestrate a Shopping Cart Abandoned event: Create a trigger-based journey.

For tracking sign-ins from websites, the recommended approach today is for customers to use the Real-time data ingestion API to read/write to customer profiles in Customer Insights. These profile details could then be queried to personalize a user’s experience based on data in the customer entity (OData query examples for Customer Insights APIs - Dynamics 365 Customer Insights | Microsoft Learn). As long as a source system supports Customer Insights’ API endpoints, real-time activity could be added to a customer profile, and then used by a CMS/website to decide what to do next. In addition, this article, Personalize your customer experiences with data for unknown and known users, has more information on how build experiences based on whether a user is known or unknown.

    Thanks,

    Will Genge, PM, Microsoft
