Hi guys,
One of the CRM users has just reported he can't see a related opportunity for one of his contacts. Investigating this I found 4 more similar situations in the last 2 months, all being triggered by an update event, at random date and time. The update event seems to be triggered by the owner of the record and is just changing the old parentcontactid value to blank. There's no system job close to that date and time to back up what is showing in the audit history. This has happened for 3 different users so an user error is excluded. Can anyone help and suggest a cause for this?

All looking good relationship wise. I'm thinking if there will be something wrong it will happen the same thing with all records not just 5 of them?
can you check referential integrity between these two.
Scott, we don't have Account built for this organization. But for the organization where we have the account implemented we didn't have any similar problems.
Vikas, if it will be it will change for all Opportunities and I only had 5 situations in the last 2 months. There's nothing else happening around that time.
Is the Potential Customer being changed to an Account? If so, the Parent Contact will be blanked out.
Check if there is another workflow, plugin or server side business rule which removes the value from the field. This could be due to some other event which in turn triggers the update.
Any suggestions please?
